Product details
Aqualyx: dissolve localized fat deposits without surgery
A small bulge that resists exercise and diet: this is exactly what Aqualyx targets. Developed in Italy by Marllor Biomedical based on the work of Dr. Pasquale Motolese, Aqualyx is an injectable solution of deoxycholic acid that destabilizes the membrane of adipocytes; the released fats are then naturally eliminated by the body. The treatment is performed in a quick session, without general anesthesia or downtime, allowing immediate return to activities. CE-marked medical device, Aqualyx has been used in aesthetic medicine for over 15 years. Marllor Biomedical in Aesthetics Journal.
Why choose Aqualyx
- Targeted efficacy: deoxycholic acid acts directly on fat cells, for localized slimming where diet alone is not enough.
- Long-lasting result: destroyed adipocytes do not reform; the result is maintained with a stable lifestyle.
- Intralipotherapy technique: deep injection with a long, fine needle for even diffusion and better tolerance than classic mesotherapy.
- Progressive-release aqueous solution: the micro-galactosic gelling formula slows the diffusion of the active ingredient and prolongs its action in the adipose tissue.
- Clinic format: 10 vials to carry out a complete protocol or treat several patients.

The particularity of Aqualyx lies in its galactose-based gelling agent: it stabilizes deoxycholic acid, limits its diffusion to neighboring tissues, and prolongs its action at the heart of the fat deposit. The solution is clear, ready to use after adding lidocaine according to the manufacturer's protocol.
Intralipotherapy protocol
- Disinfect the skin and mark the fat deposit to be treated.
- Add lidocaine to the vial according to the manufacturer's protocol (typically 0.3 to 0.5 ml of 2% lidocaine per 8 ml), then mix gently.
- Inject deeply into the adipose tissue using a long, fine needle (type 24 G x 70 to 100 mm), in a fan shape, by slow retro-tracing.
- Use on average one to two vials per session depending on the volume of the deposit, then massage lightly.
- Repeat every 3 to 4 weeks: 1 to 3 sessions for a small deposit, up to 5 to 8 for a larger volume.
Observed results
In a study published in the Journal of Ultrasonography in 2020, Mlosek et al. evaluated deoxycholic acid intralipotherapy under high-frequency ultrasound guidance in 7 female patients, with two sessions 4 weeks apart. A reduction in circumference and subcutaneous tissue thickness was measured in 71% of patients, with good tolerance. Read the study (DOI 10.15557/JoU.2020.0048). Results vary depending on the volume treated and the number of sessions; Aqualyx targets localized deposits and does not replace overall weight loss.
Good to know
Aqualyx is injected only deep into the adipose tissue, never superficially, and is used after checking the usual contraindications (pregnancy, breastfeeding, coagulation disorders, liver or kidney diseases, allergy to any component). Swelling, redness, or tenderness at the injection site are expected for a few days and subside spontaneously.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between Aqualyx and phosphatidylcholine (PPC)?
Phosphatidylcholine emulsifies fats in superficial mesotherapy, while Aqualyx is based on deoxycholic acid injected deeply by intralipotherapy, with a slow-release carrier. Aqualyx is generally preferred for dense, well-defined deposits, PPC for more diffuse work.
How soon are results visible?
Initial swelling disappears in a few days, then volume reduction gradually sets in over 3 to 4 weeks, as the body eliminates the released fats. The result is fully appreciated after the last session.
How many patients or sessions does a box of 10 vials cover?
With one to two vials per session, a box covers 5 to 10 sessions: for example, a complete protocol on a large area, or 1 to 3 sessions for several patients with small deposits. Each vial is for single use only.
Should lidocaine be added?
Yes, the manufacturer recommends adding a small amount of lidocaine to the vial before injection: it significantly improves comfort during the session.
Which needle should be used?
Intralipotherapy is performed with a long, fine needle or cannula (24 G, 70 to 100 mm) to reach the center of the fat deposit from a single entry point. You will find suitable needles and cannulas in our accessories.
Are the results permanent?
Destroyed fat cells do not regenerate. The result is maintained over time if weight remains stable; significant weight gain may enlarge the remaining adipocytes.
How should Aqualyx be stored?
At room temperature (5 to 25 °C), protected from light, in its original packaging. Do not freeze; use each vial immediately after opening.
